Homestaurants — Home Food Marketplace for Switzerland

Switzerland's food delivery market is dominated by restaurant-focused platforms, leaving home cooks with no easy way to legally sell homemade meals to their neighborhood. The platform needed to handle real-time order management, location-based discovery of nearby home chefs, multi-language support for Switzerland's diverse population, and a smooth checkout experience — all while keeping the UI responsive and the codebase maintainable for a solo/small team.

I architected the platform using Laravel for the backend and Livewire for dynamic, reactive components, avoiding the complexity of a separate SPA frontend while still delivering an app-like feel. Alpine.js handled lightweight client-side interactivity (modals, toggles, live filters) alongside Livewire. The Google Maps API powers location-based search, letting customers find home cooks near them and see delivery radius and estimated distance in real time. I implemented role-based dashboards for cooks and customers, an order and menu management system, and multi-locale content management (like this translation module) so the platform can scale to serve French, German, Italian, and English-speaking regions of Switzerland.

The platform launched as a fully functional marketplace where home cooks can list dishes, manage orders, and reach nearby customers, while buyers can browse, order, and track meals from verified home kitchens — all through a fast, mobile-friendly interface built without the overhead of a separate frontend framework.
